积分视场光谱包含星系二维空间信息和光谱信息,可用于研究星系内部结构和运动学特征,进而探索星系的形成和演化。本基金申请,利用自主观测完成的近邻大星系三维光谱数据和国际积分视场光谱巡天(MaNGA、CALIFA等)数据,结合紫外、光学、红外和射电等多波段数据,通过图像PSF匹配,得到星系同样物理尺度的光谱和多波段能谱分布,精确测量星系不同区域的恒星形成率密度、金属丰度、恒星质量面密度、气体含量和尘埃消光等物理参数;研究各类星系的星族年龄、恒星质量、恒星形成率、金属丰度、尘埃消光、气体含量等物理性质的二维分布;统计分析这些性质之间的关系,研究星系亚尺度(0.01kpc–kpc)物理特性多种标度关系;研究星系物理性质二维分布与星系内部结构和外部环境关系;探究决定星系形成和演化的关键物理过程和因素,从而为星系形成的理论模型提供观测限制。
英文摘要
Integral field spectrographs (IFS) observations can obtain the spatial and spectral information of galaxies simultaneously, so it is a strong tool to study kinematics, abundances, star formation, structures of galaxies, allows us to explore both formation and evolution of galaxies. ..In this application, we will use the integral field spectra of 10 large nearby galaxies (D>10’), which we observed by the NAOC 2.16 m telescope and the Hectospec/MMT multifiber spectrograph, the IFS spectra from the MaNGA, CALIFA et al., to construct deep imaging and spatially resolved spectroscopy for a large sample of galaxies covering wide ranges of galaxy properties and environment...Combining with the existing multi-wavelength data (PSF matched) from UV to IR of our galaxy sample, we will measure the spatially resolved star formation rate, metallicity, stellar mass, gas fraction, and dust attenuation of galaxies accurately. Using these data, we can investigate, understand and quantify the dust extinction, star formation, metal abundance, stellar mass, gas fraction and the two-dimensional distributions of these properties of low redshift galaxies, as well as the relationships of the galaxy two-dimensional properties with the galaxy morphologies and environments. ..Over the past decade, galaxy surveys at low and high redshift have shown that star-forming galaxies possess a tight global relationship between their current star formation rate and total stellar mass, metallicity and total stellar mass, and et al. Using these spatially resolved properties of galaxies, we will investigate the relation between the kinematics of gas and stars, and stellar mass in sub kpc scale, to provide insights into the physical processes responsible for chemical evolution on local scales and to better understand the origin and meaning of the corresponding global relations. It will be important for a better understanding of galaxy formation and evolution.
