Transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) based gas sensors have drawn great research interest in the field of gas detection owing to its room-temperature operation. However, the insufficient reaction activation energy occurs at room temperature, which hinders TMDs based gas sensors to achieve high-efficient detection for trace-level gas. Considering that the unique localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR)-induced light field enhancement generated on gold nanoparticle, we intend to construct composite sensitive materials by modifying TMDs with gold nanoparticles, then developing light-assisted instead of heat-assisted gas detection mode to guide the design of visible-light-assisted TMDs based gas sensor. This project will focus on the internal relationship among the structure parameters, LSPR characteristics and gas-sensing performances. The correlation mechanism between the optical absorption characteristics and the gain of gas-sensing response will be explored, the parameter correlation among the wavelength of resonance absorption and the gas-sensing selectivity will be established, and the trace gas detection principle of visible-light-assisted gas sensor based on LSPR will be clarified, so as to realize the highly sensitive detection and specific recognition for trace gas at room temperature. This research will provide effective thoughtway for developing high-performance trace gas detection technology.
