寒武系布尔吉斯页岩型化石库为揭示寒武纪大爆发时期以后生动物为主导的现代海洋生态系统的起源和演化提供了实证。云南寒武系地层连续并产出有丰富的此类型化石,使得云南成为世界上研究寒武纪大爆发生物群落演替和后生动物早期演化最为理想的地区。项目依据前期定量采样获得的云南寒武系第2统多个含软躯体化石层位的大量标本,并深入开展云南曲靖地区寒武纪特异埋藏化石组合的对比研究,借鉴生态学-演化生物学-发育生物学(Eco-Evo-Devo)研究思路和方法,开展化石个体生态学和功能形态学研究,揭示早期动物生活模式、物种间相互关系和生态环境等生态现象,在此基础上,重点开展以化石组合为基础的定量群落生态学对比研究,以期为解答现代海洋生态系统起源阶段的生物群落面貌、营养级结构、食物网构成和群落演化等问题提供线索,并探索其背后的生态学驱动因素。此外分析这些化石和围岩的埋藏和地化特征,结合实验埋藏学试探其保存机制与模式。

The Cambrian Burgess Shale-type fossil Lagerstätten are critical importance for understanding the origin and development of modern-style ecosystems during the Cambrian explosion. The Cambrian strata are relatively well developed and widespread in Yunnan, yielding abundant Burgess Shale-type fossils, which makes Yunnan area to be one of the most important regions in the world for studying the early evolution of ecological community and metazoa in the period of Cambrian explosion. Based on a large number of specimens collected by quantitative sampling methods from the fossiliferous horizons with soft-bodied preservation of Cambrian, Series 2 in Yunnan, and further research on soft-bodied fossil assemblages in Qujing area, Yunan. This project will carry out a series of innovative approaches by focusing on the detailed anatomical structures of exceptionally preserved fossils to study the autecology and functional morphology of Cambrian animals, referred the research methods and concepts of the ecological and evolutionary developmental biology (Eco-Evo-Devo), to discover the macroevolutionary and microevolutionary phenomena such as the life mode, species interaction and ecological environment of early animals. On this basis, this project further focuses on the quantitative analysis of ecological community based on soft-bodied fossil assemblages collected from the selected fossil sites, to reveal the ecological characteristics, such as the species composition, trophic structure, food web, and community evolution in the origin stage of the modern marine ecosystem, and to explore the ecological driving factors behind them. Also, analysis of the detailed sedimentology, taphonomy, and geochemistry of the fossiliferous deposit rock, combined with the experimental taphonomy, to reveal the taphonomic mechanism and model for the soft-bodied preservation.
按照计划完成了预期目标,获得大量化石标本,发现了一些新的重要化石点。完成云南地区多个重要剖面化石标本的整理工作,在此基础上,发表论文18篇,其中15篇论文SCI收录,《Science》论文1篇。同时,与美国、加拿大和摩洛哥等同行开展了合作研究。组织国内会议主题分会场3次,参加国际会议2次,培养博士研究生4名(含联合培养1人)、吸引博士后入站1名。取得的主要研究进展和成果包括:1)野外工作收集近千枚珍惜寒武纪特异保存化石标本;2)采用多种技术手段揭示云南虫的咽弓由细胞软骨形成,支持其与脊椎动物的亲缘关系,填补了从无脊椎动物到脊椎动物演化的缺失环节;3)首次在澄江生物群中发现古杯化石并揭示其生态位扩张;4)曲靖玉案山组发现多种新的节肢动物化石,丰富了澄江生物群内肢类多样性;5)报道了云南宜良寒武系陡坡寺组新发现的软躯体化石层位,对其中Wiwaxia新材料的研究揭示其时空分布及形态多样性;6)研究揭示澄江生物群疑难管状化石大型舌形螺并不是软舌螺类,可能与刺胞动物或冠轮动物有亲缘关系;7)重新描述澄江生物群中完整奇虾标本,揭示奇虾类早期演化。另外,一项成果入选2022年度古生物学十大进展,项目负责人2022年入选江苏省第五期“333人才工程”第二层次培养对象。
