Solar energy driven carbon dioxide conversion is promising to solve current energy shortage and environment pollution problems. However, challenges like weak capture capability of solar radiation and low conversion efficiency severely inhibit the development of efficient solar energy-fuel conversion techniques. To tackle aforementioned challenges, this project aims to propose solar energy directly driven carbon dioxide-fuel conversion method based on composite porous CeO2 particles. Following the whole energy transport and conversion path, this project plans to conduct the following three researches: solar radiation capture improvement methods based on composite porous CeO2 based particles, their reaction mechanism and control method, solar energy directly driven heat and mass transfer-chemical reaction coupled energy conversion mechanism. This project plans to unveil the multiscale interaction mechanism between solar radiation photons and composite porous CeO2 based particles and propose full-spectrum efficient solar energy capture approaches; explain the reaction mechanism of composite porous CeO2 particles and establish design approaches of efficient catalysts; develop heat/mass transfer-chemical reaction coupled energy conversion model and unveil the interaction mechanism of heat transfer properties, mass transport features, and chemical reactions. This project’s research contents are involved with multiple disciplines, and have important academic significance and scientific interest. Research finds of this project will guide the fundamental theory and lay the technical foundation for realizing efficient solar energy conversion and turning carbon dioxide into resources.
