Faecalibacterium prausnitzii(abbreviated to Fp)is a microorganism that can relieve inflammatory bowel disease and metabolic diseases. Studies have shown that Fp is widely colonizing in the human gut of healthy people and has different functions in different populations. However, there are few reports on large-scale genomic diversity of Fp. Our previous study on Fp isolated genomes from the gut of Chinese individuals found that different Fp isolates share a lower genome similarity. Based on this, we speculate that Fp has a high level of genomic diversity. In order to explore the genomic diversity of Fp, we will conduct comparative genome and phylogenetic studies on 32 Fp isolates cultured from the human gut of Chinese. we will use bioinformatics and in vitro functional experiments such as genome clustering, pan-genome, phylogenetic, KEGG annontatiom, short-chain fatty acids, and inflammatory cell models to determine the genetic and functional diversity of Fp isolates at multiple levels, to explore the systematic evolution of Fp strains from different individuals, reveal the differences in biological functions of Fp in KEGG, short-chain fatty acid synthesis, and cellular anti-inflammatory. This project will take the cultured Fp genome and function research as the starting point to provide theoretical basis for the precise application of Fp strains in disease intervention and treatment.
