The increasing frequency of daily travel and group activities attracts wide attention to the safety, efficiency, and comfort issues in pedestrian facilities and crowd organizations. Starting from the study of the underlying mechanism of pedestrian dynamics, the project will propose an approach based on the geometry characteristics of the Delaunay diagram and the Voronoi diagram to deconstruct the space of pedestrian crowds. A pedestrian motion network based on the pedestrian crowd will be formulated to find the optimal path among crowds, and the macroscopic route choice behaviors and the microscopic velocity choice behaviors will be combined accordingly. On this basis, the project will also make use of the relevant characteristics of other methods such as the velocity obstacle model and deep learning method to complement the advantages of this modeling method, so as to further reproduce more realistic and reasonable pedestrian movement. In the aspect of empirical research, the pedestrian trajectory recognition and extraction technology will be used to obtain abundant empirical movement data from controlled experiments. These trajectory data can be applied to study the pedestrian route choice behaviors and differentiated behavior, and a pedestrian model evaluation framework will be formulated based on the trajectory data. In addition, this project will develop the model simulation and trajectory analysis technology to support the management application in theoretical modeling and empirical research, and a model that combined the pedestrian dynamics with the respiratory epidemic dynamics is formulated to investigate the management strategies of infectious diseases in public facilities according to real travel data. These researches can be used for the design of pedestrian facilities as well as the organization of pedestrian crowds in practice.
