This paper presents a s tatistical study on fitting distribution of rainfall amount in Peni nsular Malaysia u sing several types of exponential distributions for per iods from 21 to 35 years. The mixed gamma, m ixed weibull and mixed exponential are proposed and tested together w ith their sin gle distributions to identify the optimal model for d aily rainfall amount i n several ra in g auge stations in Peninsular Malaysia. The selected model will be determined based on the minimum e rror produced by some c riteria of goodness of-fit (GOF) tests. The results indi cated t hat the mixture di stributions are bet ter than the single distributions in modeling rainfall amount where the mixed weibull is identified as t he most appropriate model for t he majority of sites in Peni nsular Malaysia. These r esults however are v aried between the rai n gauge stations which are strongly influenced by their geograp hical, topographical and climatic c hanges.
