BackgroundThe world is currently battling Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), a disease caused by the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). From the first reported cases in Wuhan in December 2019, the disease has spread so rapidly over the world that it was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization in March 2020.
