This monograph forms the final report on the archaeological excavations carried out at the Boarding School Bison Drive Site during the fall of 1952 and the summers of 1958 and 1959. The Museum of the Plains Indian, Browning, Montana (operated by the United States Department of Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs), provided field equipment, laboratory facilities, and labor funds during the 1952 season. Funds for the 1958 and 1959 seasons were generously covered by grants from the Louis W. and Maud Hill Family Foundation, St. Paul, Minnesota, The city of Browning and the Blackfeet Tribe furnished men from the local jail for the labor crew in 19 58. The 1959 crew was providec: l through funds from the Hill Foundation. The field and laboratory work was under the writers' supervision during the entire period.Crew members during the first season w· ere: Joe Morning Gun, Eugene Heavy Runner, and Earl Old Person. The second season's crew comprised a total of sixty-three inmates,(from the local jail), but numbering not more than twelve per day.
