Allergic contact dermatitis is a very common skin disease. Our patient presented with an allergic contact dermatitis to textile dyes. Reactive dyes are used especially for coloring natural fibers (cotton, silk, and wool). The most commonly used reactive textile dyes responsible for allergic contact dermatitis are disperses. It is often difficult to assess the clinical relevance of contact sensitization to these dyes. In the case we have reported, allergic contact dermatitis had occurred toward the textile dye disperse red. The circumstance that our patient used to work in an overheated room for several hours enhanced cutaneous perspiration and the friction of the cloth against the skin, thus favoring the sensitization. Many cases of allergic contact dermatitis to tattoo have been reported. In this case, however, the patient developed allergic contact dermatitis to a textile dye with a tattoo-like feature, reproducing the design printed on the sponge socks.
