Fossil Hymenoptera, Mecoptera, Orthoptera, and orders of insects related to these, are described. This record of Hymenoptera extends considerably the time range of the order. Mecoptera, Neuroptera, and Trichoptera are abundant, but Diptera and Lepidoptera are absent. There are many Orthoptera (Saltatoria) but only fragmentary remains of Protorthoptera, Perlaria, and Odonata. The assemblage of insects shows none of the problematical types of the Permian. The following are new. in Hymenoptera: ARCHEXYELA crosbyi (Xyelidae); in Mecoptera: NEOPERMOPANORPA mesembria (Permopanorpidae), XENOPANORPA didymovena (Permopanorpidae), NEOPARA-CHORISTA with type N. perkinsi (Orthophlebiidae). N. splendida, N. semiovena, N. nana, ARCHEBITTACUS exilis(Neorthophlebiidae), XENOCHORISTELLA hillae(Xenochoristidae), Prochoristella whitehousei(Mesopanorpodidae), MESOTANYDERUS jonesi(Permotanyderidae); in Trichoptera: CLADOCHORISTELLA brxani (Cladochoristidae), PRORHYACOPHILIDAE n. fam. based on PRORHYACOPHILA colliveri; in Neuroptera: n. fam. PROBEROTHIDAE based on PROBEROTHA sugerba and including PROBEROTHELLA elongata, Archeosmylus stigmatus and A. ? costalis (Archeosmylidae), LITHOSMYLIDA (Osmylidae) with type L. lineata, L. parvula, n. fam. OSMYLOPSYCHOPIDAE based on Osmylopsychops Tillyard and including Archepsychops Tillyard and Mesopolystoechus Martynov; and in Orthoptera: Prohagla imperfecta and NEOHAGLA sinuata (Prophalangopsidae), MESOGRYLLACRIS giganteus(Gryllacrididae), XENOGRYLLACRIS reductus (Gryllacrididae), and XENOPTERIDAE n. fam. based on XENOPTERUM crosbyi.
