foundation, “The Guide to Greening Cities” explains now cities are beginning to think today. With green blocks and regional agendas, the green city leaders are advocating for a reframing of city infrastructure. I would suggest that the authors continue to write these guides to showcase the next steps in this green evolution, with updated “Case in Points” and more statistics. These be utilized by the reader to build cohesive arguments and plans within their communities. An interesting collection of books and narratives on greening cities would develop. We can hope that these narratives would eventually become less about the struggle and more about the success. The guide covers a vast spectrum of topics and its audience is equally broad: “to assist all who want to green their cities, their neighborhoods, or even their own nonprofit organizations or companies, either from inside or outside government-including city leaders and their staffs as well as academics, students, urban design professionals, and business and community leaders.” (p. 14). It reveals a good overview for those new to greening cities. For those who are more familiar, it provides refreshingly candid overview of what it’s like to try and generate change with limited resources. This candor reminds you that change is possible and takes time.
