The main apparatus consists of a new hydrogen time projection chamber as muon detector, developed by PSI, surrounded by cylindrical wire chambers and a plastic scintillator hodoscope as electron detectors. The parameter <jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:tex-math>\Lambda_S</jats:tex-math><mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mml:msub><mml:mi>Λ</mml:mi><mml:mi>S</mml:mi></mml:msub></mml:math></jats:alternatives></jats:inline-formula> is evaluated as the difference between the inverse <jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:tex-math>\mu\,p</jats:tex-math><mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mml:mrow><mml:mi>μ</mml:mi><mml:mspace width="0.167em" /><mml:mi>p</mml:mi></mml:mrow></mml:math></jats:alternatives></jats:inline-formula> lifetime and that of the free <jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:tex-math>\mu^+</jats:tex-math><mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mml:msup><mml:mi>μ</mml:mi><mml:mo>+</mml:mo></mml:msup></mml:math></jats:alternatives></jats:inline-formula>.
