LetAbe a unitalC*-algebra. An elementuofAis unitary and belongs to the centre ofAif and only iffor every pure state. Using this fact we show that a numerical radius preserving linear isomorphism onAis aC*-isomorphism multiplied by a fixed unitary element in the centre ofA.
