A dog fed a hard, bulky diet for several weeks had healthy gingiva and low flow of tissue fluid from the gingival crevice, while another dog, fed a soft and sticky diet had pronounced gingival inflammatory changes and marked flow of fluid from the crevice. A diagnostic procedure for gingival conditions is suggested which involves determination of the amount of gingival fluid absorbed by strips of filter paper by means of a solution of ninhydrin. || ABSTRACT AUTHORS: Finn Brudevold
