Impedance measurements were carried out on neuroglia cells from tissue culture and newborn animals as studiedin vitro. Approximately 240 cells were estimated to be present in the material studied. Membrane resistivity could be measured only at a-c frequencies below 200 cycle/sec. Both electric shocks and KCl applied to the tissue produced a rapid drop in impedance followed by a rise of long duration. The effects of various other chemical agents are described, and evidence is presented to show the validity of this method of studying the neuroglia.
