Although there is a low mortality rate after gastrectomy in Japan, most studies include many early gastric cancers. There have been few studies on the morbidity after gastrectomy for advanced gastric cancer. The aim of this study was to clarify the characteristics and risk factors for postoperative complications after resection of large gastric cancers based on three clinical factors: patient, operation and tumour.
