The experimental evidence relating to the structure, chemical properties and biosynthesis of plant [Angiospermae] procyanidins is briefly reviewed. A theory is proposed to accomodate this evidence and to correlate the observed increase in polymeric character of the procyanidins as the plant tissue reaches maturity.
