This paper analysis and compares the existing methods for diagnosing the cylinder-piston group of an internal combustion engine (ICE). The most promising diagnosis methods are proposed. The developed method allows to combine all the positive aspects of existing and proposed methods and to solve the problem of improving the reliability of estimating the technical state of ICE units and mechanisms. The authors describe a mathematical model taking into account parameters such as crankshaft motoring frequency, clearance leaks, engine temperature, phase change process pressure. It allows you to find out the pressure change in the combustion chamber and compare it to the experimental data. The proposed method was used to analyze the technical state of the cylinder-piston group under various diagnosis conditions; the analysis revealed that as the wear magnitude of cylinders, rings, and piston increased, pressure decreased at the end of the compression stroke. Experimental results are presented as graphs showing the inter-dependency of parameters of the processes under consideration.
