The crystal structure of C18H36N206. CaBr2. 3HzO has been determined and refined by three-dimensional least-squares techniques based on 1718 intensities measured on a PAILRED automatic diffractometer. The crystals are orthorhombic, space group P212121, with a= 19.200 (5), b= 14.518 (4), c= 9.511 (2) A and Z= 4. The final R value for 1718 reflexions is 0.050. The Ca 2+ ion is bonded to the six oxygen and two nitrogen atoms of the macrobicyclic ligand and one water molecule which form an approximate tricapped trigonal prism. The calcium-bromine distances are greater than 5 A indicating that there is no interaction between the metal ion and the anions. The values of the torsion angles indicate that the cavity of the macrobicyclic ligand approaches its minimal size.Dans les cryptates, un ou plusieurs ions m6talliques sont engag6s dans la cavit6 mol6culaire d'un systbme macrobicyclique (Dietrich, Lehn & Sauvage, 1969; Cheney, Lehn, Sauvage & Stubbs, 1972). Afin de pouvoir 6tudier la coordination des ions m6talliques dans ces compos6s, ainsi que les principaux facteurs responsables de la stabilit6 de ces complexes et de ia s61ectivit6 que manifestent ces coordinats bicycliques vis4t-vis de divers ions m6talliques, nous avons effectu6 une 6tude structurale d'une s6rie de complexes avec des cations monovalents (alcalins, Ag+, TI+) et bivalents (alcalino-terreux, Pb z+)(Moras, Metz & Weiss, 1973; Moras & Weiss, 1973; Metz, Moras & Weiss, 1973a). Ce m6moire rend compte des r6sultats obtenus dans l'6tude du complexe de calcium avec le coordinat bicyclique C~ sH36N206, not6 (222)(Fig. 1).
