Briefly discussed new requirements for army land vehicles and its powertrain required by deployability of modern tactical unit,and introduced development background of MTU 890 Series Engines and its advanced performance index;reviewed advanced technology and design philosophy of high-grade integration in 890 series engines;briefly introduced MTU Group's design philosophy about transmission system matched with 890 series engines.Some opinions and suggestions were put forward for development of high power density diesel engine in China.
