Geology and induced polarization anomaly characteristics of small veinlike gold deposits are discussed in this paper. In the course of gold ore exploration, special attention should be paid to low and stable anomalies in that they might be the reflection of small veinlike gold deposits, and this has been proved by the detection of known veinlike gold ore bodies.Due to different ore-forming conditions, the gold ore body may appear either as a low resistivity and high polarizability body or as a high resistivity and high polarizability body. The resistivity method is affected a lot by topography, and anomalies caused by small veinlike gold ore bodies cannot be easily separated from those caused by topography. These anomalies can serve as the referential information for interpretation. The induced polarization method is an effective means for exploring small veinlike gold ore bodies, because this method is less affected by topography.
