Two species of dicotyledonous fossil woods from the Kungkuan Tuff (Early Miocene) of Kweishan, Taoyuan County, northern Taiwan, were described. They show a close resemblance with the woods of Bischofia (Euphorbiaceae) and Camellia (Theaceae) and are, threrfore, named Bischofia javanoxyla and Camellia kueishanensis sp. nov., respectively. Comparison between the fossils and the modern species indicates that the fossil woods possibly grew in a warm, humid habitat.
