Plasma cutting torches are widely used devices, but very few scientific studies about their plasma properties have been performed. In this work, experimental values for distributions of excitation temperature, electron density, chemical species concentration and pressure for an air plasma cutting torch, are given. A method to obtain these values from optical spectroscopy measurements on a fluctuating plasma was developed and applied.
