詹姆斯·奥尔森(James Olsen)在《类维生素A和类胡萝卜素:对未来的思考》(Retinoids and the Carotenoids:Thoughts for the Future)一章中写道:“那么,我们将走向何方?".
This volume, in the Clinical Dermatology Series, is actually based on the Conference of the same name as the title of the book that took place in Palermo, Sicily in October 1991, although this information is not revealed in the book. Most of the presentations are reported here (total 42), and the collection provides a valuable addition to the literature on retinoids. The editors appear to have done a good job in getting the contributions together, and the majority of the diagrams are displayed clearly. The papers are short (mostly 5-15 pages) and are distributed in five sections: Metabolism and Nutrition, Molecular and Cell Biology, Developmental Biology/Teratogenicity, Pharmacology, and Analytics and Pharmacokinetics. The volume is rounded off with a concluding chapter by James Olsen entitled'Retinoids and the Carotenoids: Thoughts for the Future', in which he asks" So where are we going?". This final chapter might be read by way of an introduction to those new to the field. The majority of the papers in the book present original research data and are agreeably concise: most are of a very high standard and the editing/proofreading also appears to have been done to exacting standards.
