Surveys of boletoid fungi in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest resulted in the discovery of a new species similar to Gyroporus castaneus named Gyroporus austrobrasiliensis. Macro- and microscopic descriptions, molecular data (nrDNA ITS and LSU sequences), photographs of the basidiomata, and scanning electron microscopy images of the basidiospores are provided.
