In Part I of this contribution (Rossmanith et al. 1997), elastic wave propagation in monolithic rock which is relevant to blasting of single boreholes has been investigated analytically and numerically. The main emphasis has been put on the effect of the velocity of detonation on the stress wave propagation. Part II (this article) addresses numerical results concerning stress wave expansion from a detonating borehole and stress wave interaction with geological features of discontinuity such as interfaces, layers, cracks and faults.
