After one year, this Early-Career Scientist Kakenhi stopped as the PI got a permanent position as CNRS researcher in France from December 2019. Within that year, the funded research was very fruitful as we demonstrated the first coupling between spin wave and exciton in a heterostructure constituted by an atomically-thin layer of MoSe2 and a thin YIG magnetic substrate. The optical absorption properties of MoSe2 are modulated by the spin waves at microwave frequency by magnetic proximity effects. Based on these results, a high impact paper is now in preparation, with a submission planned for this spring. This grant has launched a local and international collaboration with Iwasa group in Todai and A. Imamoglu in ETH Zurich.
