Evaluation of the utility of canal with sediment characteristics and its toxicity potential

为了解东京湾运河区泥沙污染情况，对东京湾运河区进行了多点泥沙调查。与海湾沉积物相比，运河区沉积物中Cu、Zn、Sb和Pb含量较高。这一结果表明，运河区沉积物的退化程度更大。运河带沉积物与海湾沉积物中Cu和Zn的形态存在差异。由于渠系动物的物种形态与合流下水道沉积物的物种形态相似，推测渠系动物体内可能存在合流下水道溢流的污染物。

To comprehend the situations of sediment contaminations in Tokyo bay canal zoon, sediment survey were conducted at multiple point. Compare the sediment in canal zoon with bay sediment, sediment in canal zoon indicated higher values of ignition loss, Cu, Zn, Sb and Pb. This result suggested that sediment in canal zoon is more deteriorating. Regarding Cu and Zn, their speciations were different between sediment in canal zoon and bay sediment. Since speciation patterns in canal zoon were similar to those in combined sewer sediment, it was suggested that there are some contaminants from combined sewer overflow in canal zoon.
