Objectives of this research 1) to collect the documents concerning Tokugawa Hidetada and Tokugawa Iemitsu and store these information in database, and 2) to reveal the historical characteristics of Shougun and construction process of political and organizational structure of the Edo period.The investigation was carried out on the previously collected documents issued by Tokugawa Hidetada and documents issued by Tokugawa Iemitsu, as well as heretofore uninvestigated material such as Shimazu family documents owned by Historiographical institute of Tokyo University, Hachisuka family documents owned by the National Institute of Historical Materials, Mori family documents owned by Hofu Mori Museum, and Yamauchi family documents owned by Tosa Yamauchi Museum. In addition, documents concerning Hidetada and Iemitsu owned by the Cabinet Library were investigated.
