Study on the representation of 'couples' in western art history

以“夫妇”为代表的友谊意象是德国浪漫主义意象的典型之一，它是在传统的恶与善、人与神、生与死的辩证关系意象的基础上创造出来的，由“赫拉克勒斯在歧路上”等主题演绎为“爱与赛琪”，并增加了“和解”或“调解”的新含义。它是由浪漫主义的“时代精神”，试图克服启蒙运动的分析精神，试图恢复整个世界，应该已经存在的宗教改革。

One of the typical German romantic iconography, the image of friendship represented by the "couples", is created upon the tradition of the image of dialectic relationship between vice and virtue, human being and god or live and death, rendered by theme such as "Heracles on the divided way" as "Amor and Psyche", adding a new signification of "reconciliation" or "mediation". It was made of the romantic "Zeitgeist" that tried to overcome the analytic spirit of the Enlightenment, try to recover the entire world which supposed to have existed before the Reformation.
