A fundamental study of the pressure ulcers prevention by decline of the skin friction force.

Pressure ulcers can arise simply from long-term application of pressure ; however, the risk of onset is exacerbated by friction, shear and humidity. Individual variation in skin friction force has been demonstrated in previous studies ; therefore, in the present study, the relevance of friction force with the intrinsic moisture, sebum and grain content of the skin. The sample of male were 6 and female were 17 in their 20s and the friction force, grain, moisture and sebum content of the skin in the dorsal region were measured. Although friction force has no relevance to moisture content, skin grain, friction force has relevance to sebum content.
