National Election and Overseas Japanese : A study on their political participation and information acquisition

本研究比较了澳大利亚、英国和新加坡的海外日本人社区，以确定他们在政治参与和信息获取模式中与民族/国家认同相关的特征。研究结果证实，尽管作为日本本土社会成员的表达身份各不相同，但无论他们对本土的情感依恋如何丧失，他们仍然坚持消费日本大众媒体提供的信息，以塑造他们对世界的理解方式。

This study compares Overseas Japanese communities in Australia, the UK and Singapore to identify their characteristics in relation to ethnic/national identity appeared in political participation and information acquisition patterns. The result confirms that although there are varying expressive identity as members of the Japanese homeland society, the communities maintains to consume information provided by Japanese mass media to shape their way of understanding of the world, no matter how they have lost their emotional attachment to the homeland.
