The effect of subjective risk on health behavior and determinants of subjective risk perception

避孕行为是健康行为的一部分，在减少人工流产、计划生育促进母子健康、防止性传播疾病等方面发挥着至关重要的作用。这项研究表明，主观风险，即个体对每种方法的各种风险和好处的主观感知，是日本女性选择节育措施的重要决定因素。研究还发现，避孕选择随着个体特征的不同而不同，这种差异至少可以用个体特征的主观概率的差异来解释。

Contraceptive behavior is a part of health behavior, and plays a crucial role in reducing artificial abortion, promoting health of mothers and their children via family planning, and preventing sexually transmitted diseases. This study shows that subjective risk, i. e., suhlective perception of indviduals regarding various risks and benefits of each method, is an important determinant of birth control choice by Japanese women. It also finds that contraceptive choice varies with indivindual characteristics, and the variation can be at least partly explained by the difference in subjective probabity by individual chararcteristics.
