Construction of training system for Japanese conversation based on negotiation of meaning

在我们之前的研究中，我们开发了一个日语会话训练系统。但是，该系统没有足够的能力来处理说话者无法理解另一个说话者的话语的情况。（一般来说，理解这种话语的行为被称为“意义协商”。）因此，我们通过培养包括“意义协商”在内的会话教学能力，将培训体系拓展到更实用的层面。我们实现了以下目标：[1]分析会话训练中典型的“意义协商”类型，[2]设计和实现控制系统执行“意义协商”（特别是澄清请求和确认检查）的对话策略，[3]设计和实现控制在协作学习中扮演另一个学习者角色的计算机代理的对话策略。

In our previous research, we developed a training system for Japanese conversation. But the system doesn't have enough ability to cope with the situation in which a speaker cannot understand another speaker's utterance. (Generally, actions to understand such utterance are called "negotiation of meaning".) Therefore, we extend the training system into more practical by developing pedagogical ability of conversation including "negotiation of meaning". We achieved the following goals: [1]Analysis of typical types of "negotiation of meaning" in the conversation training, [2]Design and implementation of dialogue strategies which control the system to perform "negotiation of meaning" (especially, clarification requests andconfirmation checks), and [3]Design and implementation of dialogue strategies which control a computer agent that performs the role of another learner in collaborative learning.
