Family care practice for the end-of-life care of elderly people with dementia

本研究旨在探讨护理人员对老年照护机构失智老人临终照护的认知与实践，以及老人家属的照护负担与需求。家庭的护理负担入院后的设施被认为是护士比家庭低，这表明护士可能不认为入院后的家庭护理是重要的。因此，在老年护理设施中，可能需要护士进行临终护理的实际能力建设，以满足家庭的需求，例如提供参与护理的机会。

The purpose of this study was to explore nurses' practice and recognition about end-of-life care for elderly people with dementia living in aged care facilities, as well as families' care burden and needs. Families' care burden after admission to the facilities was recognized as being lower by nurses than by families, suggesting that nurses may not regard family care after admission as important. In aged care facilities, therefore, practical capacity building of end-of-life care by nurses may be required for meeting families' needs such as providing the opportunity of participating in care.
