Welfare Reform and the impact of Presidentialism in South Korea

本研究旨在解释韩国福利发展的政治机制，重点关注总统制的影响。在韩国，总统和非政府组织在福利改革中发挥了重要作用，总统制的本质特征使非政府组织能够代表国会中代表性不足的人民的利益。通过对韩国福利政治的探索，本研究试图为福利国家理论提供一个新的视角，该理论往往只关注西方工业国家的经验。

This study aimed to explain the political mechanism of welfare development in South Korea, focusing on the impact of Presidentialism. In Korea, the President and the NGOs played a major role in welfare reform, and the essential characteristics of the presidential institution enabled the NGOs to have represented the interests of people underrepresented in the parliament. By exploring welfare politics in Korea, this study tried to provide a new perspective on the welfare state theory which tended to focus exclusively on the experiences of Western industrial countries.
