Follow-up survey of understanding and conveying hibakusha testimony in English:An analysis of interpretation and changes of information

本研究以美国大学生为研究对象，他们在广岛的一个和平研究项目中聆听了原子弹爆炸幸存者的英语证词。在他们回国后，通过两次后续调查，即一次问卷调查和一次传递对话，调查了他们如何理解和传达他们从原子弹爆炸幸存者那里听到的内容。专家们以简洁的回答来表达他们的整体理解。另一方面，传输对话表明，在对话中提到的主题根据学生的兴趣和有关原子弹的信息量而变化，这些主题中的信息不仅减少，而且增加。

This study focused on American university students who listened to hibakusha testimony in English in a peace study program in Hiroshima. It investigated how they understood and conveyed what they heard from hibakusha by two follow-up surveys, a questionnaire and a transmission conversation, after going back to their country. Questionnaires show their overall understanding by their concise answers. Transmission conversations, on the other hand, show that topics which were mentioned in the conversations vary according to students'interests and amount of information about A-bomb, and not only a decrease but also an increase of information in those topics were found.
