Testing and Discovery of a Reliable and Sustainable Drinking Water Idea for Rural Communities Impacting SDG 6/3/12&13

Water is a versatile resource that is vital to human health, yet 2.2 billion people around the world (1/3) do not have access to safe drinking water.Although abundant to the majority of the UK, it can be difficult to obtain drinking water to appropriate drinking standards in rural locations where properties are detached from utilities companies and reliant on untreated Private Water Supplies such as boreholes, wells and streams.These limitations disadvantage rural communities in the UK and all around the world, and can be attributed directly to the reduced economic growth in remote areas, as well as a growing reliance on environmentally and financially costly plastic bottled water.Clean Water Designs, has the idea, aligned directly to UN SDG 6 Clean water for all, 3 Health and Wellbeing, 12 Responsible Consumption and 13 Climate Action, to develop the technology to bring the highest quality water to where it's needed, anywhere in the world at point of use, sustainably reducing the reliance on plastic bottled water in rural communities using a proprietary high-speed, low energy distillation technology.In this project, Clean Water Designs will use Human Centred Design to test and discover a new physical user interface, that will make adoption of their technology possible, gaining extensive user insights into the required power availability, water volumes, size and environmental measures, that will allow them to test and produce a bespoke market leading product for rural properties in the UK, and later the rest of the world.Developing their team, they will develop Planet Centred Design, Carbon Modelling capabilities to understand what a positive impact would look like for our idea.They will take into account the unique challenges and requirements of rural properties, making it fit for purpose for Scottish Island properties as a starting point, and focus on: Inspiration - understanding and describing the user context and defining the user requirements; Ideation - drafting design solutions, and testing and evaluating those solutions; and Implementation - Business Planning and Development Toward Commercialisation.In this project, Clean Water Designs will bring this innovative UK invention closer to market, acting on existing user pull and letters of intent from rural property owners in need of a sustainable solution to their drinking water problems, and set the groundwork for international expansion to address our sustainable development goals.
