Bio-Eco-Trans4.0 aims to develop environmentally friendly, sustainable and energy efficient technologies and productsfrom waste within the scope of road transport as well as to strength the professional career of Dr Carmona-Cabello tobecome a world-leading researcher in the production of waste-derived products. The novelties of Bio-Eco-Trans4.0 arethe development of new materials using waste feedstock, the integration of product functionally and air quality impacton product's design, and embedding the concepts of circular economy, industry 4.0 and digitalisation within a biorefinery. The findings could be also relevant to other methods of transport and 3D printing materials. Bio-Eco-Trans4.0will contribute to mitigate the impact of the transport sector on energy demand (33% of the total energy production), airquality (4.2 million deaths worldwide annually) and greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) (24% of total CO2 from EU) usinga whole life cycle approach. The fellowship aligns with the Framework of Policies for Energy and Climate Change 2021-2030 targeting a reduction of GHG (40%), an increase in renewable energy (27%) and an improvement in energyefficiency (27%) compared to 1990. The experience of the fellow in the development and characterisation of bio- andeco- products, the excellent environment and complementary expertise at the host institutions and the pathways tostrength/develop collaborations with industry provide the right ingredients to maximise its impact.
