...documentary film and experimental making.Discourse around Artificial Intelligence (AI) is too often framed through a narrow binaryof utopian vs dystopian futures. Art practitioners do not escape this limited paradigm.Drawing on actor-network theory and media archaeological approaches this projecttreats AI instead as a network of interacting social, cultural, creative and technicalagencies. Outcomes from documentary analysis will become the source data andanalytical material for art installations using different media to contextualise and critiqueAI objects within their networks of production. The project will make new connectionsbetween installation art and humanities/social science scholarship on AI and its futures.
