The project will involve two main topics: the fission studies in the heaviest Fr and Ac nuclei, andthe nuclear decay spectroscopy in the neutron-rich Tl-Ac region. The experiments will be performedat the ISOLDE mass separator at CERN(Geneva). The use of laser ionization in conjunctionwith the mass separation provided by ISOLDE will provide uniquely clean sampes.
