Evaluate and design anti-viral actives

病毒有各种各样的形状和大小，但比细菌小得多。包括流感病毒、轮状病毒、诺如病毒、呼吸道合胞病毒，当然还有冠状病毒在内的臭名昭著的病毒被脂膜包裹，在固体液体或固/液界面上都可以被两亲性活性物质破坏。化学工业需要与病毒学家合作，解决关键问题，如应该使用哪些活性物质？其作用机制是什么？浓度是多少？在什么情况下？我们的目标是开发有效的抗病毒化合物，可以在传播的不同阶段干预和灭活病毒。已经确定了几种可以抑制病毒传播的杠杆。从抗病毒化合物的角度来看，它需要一个连贯的计划，利用胶体科学、配方工程和病毒测试能力，将分子结构设计与实验室验证联系起来。

Viruses present in a broad range of shapes and sizes, but are much smaller than bacteria. The notorious ones, including influenza, rotavirus, norovirus, respiratory syncytial virus, and of course coronavirus, are enveloped by lipid membrane, which could be disrupted by amphiphilic actives, in either bulk liquid or at solid/liquid interface. The chemical industry needs to work with virologists in addressing critical questions such as, which actives should be used? What are the action mechanisms? At what concentration? Under which conditions? We aim to develop effective anti-viral compounds that can intervene and inactivate viruses at various stages of transmission. Several levers have been identified to inhibit virus transmission. From anti-viral compounds point of view, it requires a coherent programme linking molecular architecture design to lab validation, using colloidal science, formulation engineering, and viral testing capability.
