CRUD is a term used to describe the Corrosion Related Unidentified Deposits, which forms on the coolant facing structural materials in high temperature water circuits of pressurized water reactors (PWRs). Its effect is detrimental because it can affect the transport and possible incorporation of radioactive species in the primary loop, it can cause a reduction in heat transfer at the fuel pins surfaces and steam generator tubing and it's also responsible for the axial offset anomaly.
