This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. These studies are part of a larger program looking at sleep's role in learning and memory consolidation. The currently proposed studies will investigate the conditions under which memories encoding during the playing of video and arcade games are subseequently incorporated into dream content and the form of this incorporation. The overarching purpose of this study is to use such incorporation to better understand cognitive processes occurring during sleep, and more specifically, how memory systems are activated and modified during sleep.
