英文摘要
The discovery of new organic photochemical reaction, understanding their mechanisms of reaction, and applying them to solve relevant problems are the goals of our research program. The long term goal is to increase basic understanding of reactivity of organic compounds in electronically excited states. Organic photochemical reactions are relevant in a variety of areas such as in the manufacture of integrated circuit chips, gene-chip technology, in the controlled photorelease of biological compounds such as neurotransmitters, and in new ways to store information and harvest solar energy. These and future applications will require a pool of old and new photoreactions that have built-in "switchable" properties.
