Dynamical links between climate and ocean biogeochemistry in the late quaternary

This proposal seeks to build a mechanistic understanding of how the marine ecosystem is altered by changes in the physical climate. It is well known that the marine ecosystem responds to changes in the physical environment, and that the results feed back on the chemistry of the ocean and atmosphere - but the details of how, and why, this occurs are poorly known. At the core of these issues is the way ocean circulation impacts the distribution, activity and fate of marine organisms through the physical supply of essential nutrients.
