The SavvyDox system permits the viewers and editors of documents in a cloud-based model to be able to always see the most up to date version of a document in real time. As it stands, this is a significant step forward in distributed collaborative models, for instance in collaborative content creation or editing. However, the current security models of online content lag behind the creation and maintenance aspect. Other than a rather broad-based location-based DRM, targeted at media consumption, there is very little that can be done to reserve content availability, or different privileges on document creation, editing, etc. in a fine-grained manner that takes into account social as well as more traditional locational aspects of content on mobile devices. Introducing a fine grained locational model would allow the SavvyDox engine and content view a far greater flexibility, enabling users to both distribute content more widely whilst at the same time protect it more flexibly. Moreover, the SavvyDox tools would benefit from a generally more device-specific (contextual) view of trust than is currently the case. This project addresses this company specific problem by developing novel solutions for location, social, and fine-grained rights management of documents in the cloud accessed by SavvyDox, and is a precursor to full integration of the Device Comfort model to SavvyDox tools.
