The earliest market for fuel cells is seen in the portable sector because small fuel cells have an inherent higher energy density than batteries. High power density is vital to give a competitive edge to the DMFCs with respect to Li batteries, and high methanol concentration and low O2 partial pressure are severe but necessary operating conditions for the successful implementation of DMFCs.
