Mg and its alloys are seen as materials of the future in the automotive, aerospace and consumer electronics industries due to their excellent properties such as high specific strength and low density. Canadian-based Magna is one of the largest international suppliers to the automotive industry, with a strong interest in developing Mg alloys for automotive applications. Making substantial use of Mg alloys in the construction of vehicles would improve strength while reducing weight, resulting in substantially increased fuel efficiencies. Until now, the very low corrosion resistance of Mg alloys has hindered their wide spread adaption. Research has shown that corrosion of Mg is unavoidable, but can be effectively controlled using an appropriate protective coating scheme. A very recent study has shown that a polyaniline (PANI)-emeraldine base (EB)
